Vipers Win Stanbic Uganda Cup To Clinch Historic Domestic Double
Vipers Sports Club rounded off an outstanding season by winning the 2022/2023 Stanbic Uganda Cup to clinch a historic domestic double.
The Venoms stunned the Cops with a 1-0 win in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final played at AkiBua Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Milton Karisa bagged the only goal of the clash to hand Alex Isabiyre’s guns the much needed victory.
The Venoms started the better side and we’re ahead when Milton Karisa headed home Bright Anukani’s corner kick delivery just 15 minutes from kick-off.
Dennis Kalanzi came close to levelling matters for Police FC but his effort went wide in the 35 minutes.
The score was 1-0 in favor of Vipers Sports Club in the first stanza.
After the break Karim Ndugwa missed an opportunity to double the lead for the Venoms when his strike was well save by Police FC custodian Davis Mutebi.
Emmanuel Mugume could have bagged an equalizer but his effort was well saved by Vipers SC custodian Fabien Mutombora in the 70 minutes.
Milton Karisa had a chance to double up and complete his own brace but his strike was well saved by custodian Davis Mutebi in the 85th minute as Vipers SC held on to stun Police Fc with 1-0 win at the final whistle.
Victory saw Vipers SC join SC Villa (6 times), Express and KCCA FC as the other Ugandan teams that have won the domestic double.
