Vipers SC Progress To The Third Consecutive Uganda Cup Final Despite Losing 1-0 To Bright Stars
Vipers Sports Club progressed to the Stanbic Uganda Cup finals for a third consecutive time following their 4-1 aggregate win over Bright Stars Football Club.
Bright Stars who were crushed 4-0 in the first round of the first leg of the semi-finals played at St Mary’s stadium last week, managed to defeat the Venoms 1-0 in the return leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-finals played at Kavuma Recreational Ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Nelson Ssenkatuka scored the only goal of the clash 5 minutes to the break to hand Bright Stars a win over the Venoms.
The win however was not enough for the hosts as they were knocked out of the tournament on aggregate win.
The result means Vipers SC advanced to the finals and will face FUFA Big League entity Police FC who made it to the finals after knocking out Adjumani TC in a 2-2 away-goals rule.
Bright Stars FC meanwhile will face Adjumani TC to battle for the third spot of this year’s show-piece.
The 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup finals will be played at AkiBua Stadium in Lira City and the winner will symbolize Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
