
Micho Names 42-Man Uganda Cranes Squad For Algeria AFCON Qualifier
Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sreojevic “Micho” has on Thursday announced 42-man preliminary squad ahead of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against already qualified Algeria.
The squad comprises of 24 locally based players and 18 foreign based players.
Experienced stars like Fahad Aziz Bayo, Emmanuel Okwi, Khalid Aucho and Farouk Miya including South African based goalkeepers Salim Jamal and Isma Watenga headline the foreign based players
Meanwhile Uganda Premier League joint top scorer Charles Bbaale, goalkeepers Ajiab Nafan and Joel Mutakubwa plus Allan Okello, Milton Karisa lead the locally based stars.
The squad is made up of 5 Goalkeepers, 16 Defenders, 14 Midfielders and 7 Strikers.
The Cranes will host the Desert Foxes on June 18th 2023 in Douala City Cameroon before ending the qualifiers with away fixture against Niger in September.
Uganda is currently third placed in Group F with four points, the same as second placed Tanzania.
