Adjumani TC Knocked Out Of Uganda Cup Despite 2-1 Win Over Police FC.
Police Football Club progressed to the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup finals in a 2-2 away-goals win over Adjumani Town Council FC.
The Cocks who were defeated 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals at Kavuma last week, managed to rally from a goal down to defeat the Cops 2-1 in the return leg of Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-finals played at Paridi stadium on Friday afternoon.
The win was however not enough for the hosts as they were knocked out of the tournament on away goal rule.
Police FC played the entire 35 minutes of the second half without their goalkeeper coach Faisal Kanene after he was sent off in the 55 minutes.
Samuel Kayongo opened the lead for the visitors at the stroke of the break after tapping home Dennis Kalanzi cross to hand Police FC a 1-0 lead in the first stanza.
After the break, Adjumani TC levelled matters through Basani Safi who found the back of the net from a penalty kick.
Before Shadiq Nasru put the hosts ahead in the 62 minutes as Adjumani held on to register a 2-1 win at the full time whistle.
Victory was not enough for the Cocks as they bowed out of the tournament on away goal rules and will wait to meet the loser between Vipers SC and Bright Stars to battle for a third place in this year’s show-piece.
Police meanwhile advanced to the finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup and will wait to face off with the aggregate winner between Vipers SC and Bright Stars.
The first leg between Vipers and Bright stars ended 4-0 in favor of the Venoms courtesy of a brace from Bright Anukani and a goal each from Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala.
The second leg is slated for Tuesday 30th May at Kavuma Recreational with hosts Bright Stars having a huge task against Vipers who already have a massive aggregate advantage.
