West Nile Province Take Huge First Leg Advantage Over Lango Province In FUFA DRUM Final
West Nile Province took a huge advantage into next week’s second leg of the inaugural 2023 FUFA DRUM final following their 2-0 win over Lango Province in the Saturday’s first leg clash at AbaBet Greenlight stadium in Arua City.
Toha Rashid and Fred Amaku scored in either side of the encounter to hand Dudu Boscos’s guns the much needed win.
The White Rhinos took a deserved lead in the 35th minute when Toha Rashid curled a free-kick past Lango Province’s custodian Emmanuel Odonkara.
The score was 1-0 in favor of West Nile Province at the interval.
Fred Amaku doubled the lead for West Nile Province with a brilliant strike outside the box as the White Rhinos took a 2-0 lead in the 68th minute.
Lango Province should’ve reduced the deficit in the 70th minute when Omedi Denis’ wonderful strike hit the wood work.
The visitors had another chance five minutes later to pull one back but this time they were denied by West Nile Province goalie Rogers Omedwa who stood tall in between his sticks to deny Emmanuel Oketch’s effort as West Nile Province held on to beat Lango Province 2-0 at the stoppage time.
Victory handed the West Nile Province a 2-0 first leg advantage ahead of the return leg that is slated to be played at AkiBua stadium in Lira City next week.
