
10-Man Arua Hill Ease Past UPDF To Maintain Perfect Start In SUPL
Arua Hill Sports Club thrashed UPDF FC 3-0 at Barifa Stadium on Friday evening to maintain their perfect start in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Leopards got back to winning ways following a draw against Blacks Power a week ago, registering their third consecutive home wins and equally their third win this campaign.
Rashid Toha, Gadaffi Kacancu and Gadaffi Wahab were all on target for the Kongolo Boys as they ease past UPDF FC in Arua City.
The Kongolo Boys played the rest of the five added minutes with a man down as Bright Vuni was sent off for a second bookable offense.
Charles Livingston Mbabazi’s guns were dominant in the opening 45 minutes and deservedly took the lead through Rashid Toha in the 25 minutes when he found the back of the net from a penalty kick after Allan Mugalu was fouled inside the box.
In the 34th minute Allan Mugalu missed an opportunity to double the lead for the hosts when his brilliant strike hit the hoodwork as Arua Hill SC took a 1-0 lead in the first stanza.
Moments from the break Samuel Ssekamate also had a chance to extend the lead for the Kongolo Boys but his powerful strike was parried away by UPDF FC custodian Simon Mabuya.
Before Gadaffi Kacancu opened his goal scoring account for the Kongolo Boys after brilliantly striking past goalie Mabuya for a 2-0 lead in the 67 minutes.
Arua Hill SC were later reduced to a man down when defender Bright Vuni recieved his marching orders for a second bookable offense.
But that did not stop the Leopards from scoring as substitute Gadaffi Wahab sealed the victory from a penalty kick sending custodian Mabuya the wrong way for a 3-0 lead in the 90+4 minutes.
UPDF FC looked to have got a consolation goal at the stroke of the added minutes when they were awarded a penalty but custodian Anyama Richard brilliantly punched away the reusltant penalty kick to ensure Arua Hill Sports Club beat UPDF FC 3-0 at Barifa Stadium in Arua City.
Victory means Arua Hill SC move to the second place of the log with 10 points from 4 matches while UPDF FC are rooted in the 11th place with 5 points after 6 matches.
Arua Hill SC are back in action on Saturday 12th November as they visit URA FC at Nakisunga Saaza Grounds while UPDF FC will host KCCA FC at Bombo Military Play Grounds on Wednesday 9th November in their next encounter.
