Ahimbisibwe Bags Hat-trick As 10-man UPDF FC Hit Busoga 3-2
Striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored the first hat-trick of the season as UPDF FC defeated Busoga United 3-2 during their StarTimes Uganda Premier League encoounter played at Bombo Military play grounds.
Kintu Hassan and Laban Tibiita scored for Busoga United as they succumed to their second defeated of the season.
The hosts were reduced to a man down when midfeilder Okello Donato recieved his marching orders for a second bookable offense in the second-half.
Kintu handed the visitors an early lead through a brilliant volley just five minutes from kickoff but Ahimbibwe leveled matters for the hosts when he headed home Davis Kakaire’s cross for 1-1 in the 22nd minute.
Six minutes later Ahimbisibwe completed his own brace and the second for UPDF FC scoring from a penalty kick as UPDFC took a commanding 2-1 lead in the first half.
Seven minutes from the break Ahimbisibwe completed his own hat-trick with a brilliant strike to hand UPDF FC a 3-1 lead.
UPDF FC were later reduced to 10 men when Donato was shown a red card for pulling Tibiita in the 67th minute.
Tibiita reduced the deficit for Busoga United after heading Edrine Opaala’s cross in the 77 minutes but that was not enough as UPDF FC held on to register their first win of the season.
Victory puts UPDF in the 5th place of the log with 4 points from 3 games while Busoga are in the 9th place of the table with 3 points after 3 matches.

UPDF are back in action on Wednesday 19 October as they visit Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Ground while Busoga United host URA at Kakindu Stadium on Tuesday 18 October.
