“Go Fight for your Careers”,Minister Ogwang to departing Uganda Rugby Sevens.
State Minister for Sports, Honourable Peter Ogwang has advised Players representing the Nation to go and throw out their hearts if they are to have better Career Placements.
This was during the flag off ceremony of the Uganda Rugby Sevens today morning at the National Council of Sports to go participate at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens due September 9th-11th in Cape Town South Africa.
The Minister who has enjoyed this office for about 30 days urged the team to crack odds as he states,
“you’re representing the nation but most especially yourself,I believe everyone here would like to go professional,this is the time to fight for it,go,fight out loud”.
In addition,the Minister who also doubles as the Ngariam County Member of Parliament applauded the work done by the Uganda Rugby Union to put this game at the top.
“I want to thank the Uganda Rugby Union for the efforts to put this game at the top,through the well organized structures,I believe we are going to work together”.
The Minister also recycled the new old song of Infrastructure Development and pledged better budget allocation to the Uganda Rugby Union away from the One Billion Ugandan Shillings they recieve per financial year.
A Squad of 12 Players and 4 Officials will fly out on Monday to camp base in Cape Town,South Africa taking Part in their Second and consecutive Rugby World Cup Sevens.
While there,they will play Smouha in the opening fixture,a win will set a Round of 16 tie with USA in order to better their 19th position from 21 countries in San Fransisco 2018.
The Flag off was also graced by Uganda Olympic committe President,Dr.Donald Rukare,Uganda Rugby Union President Godwin Kayangwe and ever living National Council of Sports General Secretary Dr.Benard Patrick Ogwel who commended the Uganda Rugby Union for being the best-run-federation and also thanked Sponsors for the continued support.
The Team that has fimiliar faces could be branded underdogs but Head Coach Tolbert Onyango hopes,
“we are going to enjoy every moment because this is a historical ocassion,we have selected the best players basing on fitness and we believe we can make a statement ”.
