OFFICIAL: Maroons Sign Another Forward From Vipers On Season-Long Loan
Newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League outfit Maroons Football Club have confirmed the signing of another Venom ahead of the coming 2022/23 season
Umar Kyebatala has joined the One Force Army on a season-long loan from Vipers Sports Club, the club announced on Sunday.
Kyebatala’s announcement comes a day after Maroons FC confirmed the signing of another Vipers SC forward Lawrence Tezikya on a season-long loan deal.
“Maroons FC have reached an agreement to sign lethal attacker Umar Kyebatala on a season long loan from Vipers SC,” reads club statement.
“What convinced me to come is the contact with the coach, he showed me that he wanted me. I wanted to come so I could play and deliver for the team,” Kyebatala told maroonsfc.co.ug.
“This is a good team, they play good free attacking football. I want to bring my experience here and help the team to keep winning, I remain focus to help the team and that means enjoying myself on the pitch, and scoring and assisting. That’s the aim for me these next 12 months.”
“Am also happy my team mates joined in like Okao and Lawrence, we shall add value to the club,” he concluded.
The 18-year-old was among the youngsters promoted to Vipers senior team in 2019, alongside Jacob Okao. This was after helping St Mary’s SS Kitende win the Copa Coca-cola in Jinja and FEASSA games in Arusha.
There were talks linking Kyebatala to other top division clubs in East Africa but the youngster will now spend this season at Luzira Maximum Security Prison ground.
He is the latest signing in a recent surge of transfer activity from Maroons FC, who have so far brought in Brian Nkubi, Noel Nassasira, Arafat Kakonge, Samson Kigozi, Jacob Okao, David Ndihabwe and Lawrence Tezikya.
