
CHEPTEGEI Masterstrokes at Oregon to write more History.
Kapchorwa born and 27 years old long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei became the Fourth Athlete to defend the Men’s 10,000M World title after putting up a masterstroke at the ongoing World Athletics championships in Oregon,USA.
In Unusually Contested heat-up in Oregon on Sunday, Johua Kiprui Cheptegei recording 27minutes and 27.43Seconds was defending the World record he holds from Doha,2019 and he led the large periods of the truck to beat Kenya’s Stanley Mburu Waithika with 27.27.90 in second position and CounterPatriot Jacob Kiplimo who settled for bronze in recording 27.27.97.
“I didn’t aim to run really fast because of the Warm Conditions here,but my target was not just winning a medal but Gold” stated Cheptegei.
Cheptegei joins the list of British Sir Muktar Mohammad Farah and Ethiopians Haile Gebrelassie and Kenenisa Bekele to make Four Great Men to have defended the 10,000M race.
Cheptegei considers Oregon his Birthplace because it is were he won his first medal in the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships.
