Uganda, Ethiopia Share Spoils In Thriller
Ethiopia conceded twice in the second half against Uganda during their U17 Women World Cup Qualifiers. However, goals in quick succession close to the end of the second half brought Ethiopia back into the game, from which the two teams shared spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw at St Mary’s stadium on Friday evening.
Following a goalless first-half, Hadijah Nandago put Uganda ahead in the 66 minutes of the clash before completing her own brace for a 2-0 lead in the 72 minutes.
10 minutes to the stoppage time Emush Daniel Dandamo pulled a goal back for the visitors before Semira Kedir Ahmed rescued a point for Ethiopia in the 90+1 minutes.
Both teams are back in action on Friday 18th March 2022 when Ethiopia host Uganda in the second leg of the U17 Women World Cup Qualifiers.
The aggregate winner from both ties will face South Africa in the second qualifying round of the tournament.
South Africa received a by as their opponents Kenya were eliminated from the tournament as FIFA imposed a ban on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
