West Nile Regional League Side Pakwach Young Stars Dumps Out UPL Entity Wakiso Giants|Stanbic Uganda Cup
West Nile Regional League entity Pakwach Young Stars became the latest team to progress to the Round 16 of 2023/24 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
This is after defeating StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants FC 2-1 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup R32 clash played at St Mary’s Bar Omach in Pakwach on Wednesday evening.
First half goals from Skipper Onen Vivian and forward Francis Oduke were enough to hand the hosts maximum points to progress to R16 of the show-piece.
Ssali pulled one back for the Purple Sharks but that was not enough as for the visitors who eventually bowed out of the tournament.
On the same day StarTimes Uganda Premier League entity URA FC rallied from a goal down to eliminate FUFA Big League side Calvary FC following a 4-1 victory in the R-32 clash played at Midigo Primary School Playgrounds on Wednesday evening.
New signing Nathan Oloro opened the lead for the hosts in the 15th to hand Calvary FC a 1-0 lead in the first stanza.
After the break Ibrahim Wamannah levelled matters for the visitors with a screamer from Namanya’s delivery.
Before Ibrahim Dada put the Tax Collectors ahead with a cool finish off Aliro’s cross for a 2-1 lead in 75 minutes.
Ahimibisibwe then added the third in the 85 minutes before Dada completed his brace to put game to bed as URA FC settled for a 4-1 victory over Calvary FC.
Pakwach Young Stars and URA FC made the Round 16 grades to join other successful clubs as NEC FC, Vipers SC, Express FC, BUL FC, SC Villa, Busoga United FC, Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Young Simba FC, KCCA FC, Pajule Lions FC, Kitara FC, Iganga Young FC, Dove FC and Police FC who had made the grades earlier.
