Opaala: BUL FC Unveil Youngster From Rivals Busoga United
Eastern Giants BUL Football Club have bolstered their squad by unveilling youngster Edrine Mukisa Opaala ahead of the forthcoming campaign.
Opaala will be reunited with BUL FC head coach Abbey Kikomeko Bogere whom he previously played under at Busoga United.
The 19-year old attacking midfielder has inked a two-year employment from rivals Busoga United, BUL FC confirmed on Monday.
“BUL Football Club can confirm the signing of Edrine Mukisa Opaala from Busoga United. The attacking midfielder has signed a two year contract with us,: reads club statement.
Speaking during his unveilling head coach Abbey Kikomeko said: “Opaala is still young and has been playing well, assisting and doing so many things. We thought it was high time he joins a good team like BUL so that he can excel with his talent.”
“I know his ability, I know the kind of football he plays and the kind of passes he crafts. He will actually add creativity to our midfield.”
“He is a product of Copa Coca Cola schools tournament and majority of these players have excelled, and they have gone as far as playing professional football.”
“So we thought bringing him on board at BUL will be a better achievement for him,” he concluded.
Opaala expressed his delight upon joining 2022 Stanbic Uganda Cup winners.
“I am excited to join the BUL family. I thank the management for the opportunity given to me, I am ready to compete,” Opaala said.
A product of Jinja SS, Opaala was named the 2019 Copa Coca Cola Most Valuable Player and won the same award in the Busoga Masaza Cup when he was playing for Buzaya County in the 2019 edition.
In the ongoing transfer window, BUL FC have already bolstered their squad by signing Gerald Ogweti, Lawrence Tezikya, Joel Madondo, Nicholas Mwere, Alex Kitata and Odong Tayo while Hillary Onek extended his contract at the club for further more three years.
Ahead of the coming season the club have already parted ways with Richard Wandyaka, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Ivan Wani, Ibrahim Nsimbe, Aggrey Madoi, Owen Mukisa, Paul Ssekulima, Edrine Cavan Mawerere and Herbert Onyango.
