
SUPL Strugglers Onduparaka FC Set To Appoint Former SC Villa Tactician As New Coach
StarTimes Uganda Premier League strugglers Onduparaka Football have finally got their savior as they are set to announce the appointment of former Sports Club Villa boss Steven Bogere as their new head coach.
The former Uganda Cranes midfielder will begin his first role in charge of the Caterpillars on Wednesday 7 December as they visit Vipers at St Mary’s stadium.
Bogere who has already joined the camp and conducted training with the Caterpillars in the morning will work alongside Hamza Kalanzi who has been in charge of the team on a caretaker basis following the untimely departure of Haruna Mawa.
The gaffer has previously coached at SC Villa, SC Victoria (now defunct) and Kansai Plascon.
He also worked as a head coach at UPDF FC, where he is best rembered for guiding the Army side back to the top-tier league in 2019.
Onduparaka FC are currently dwelling at the foot of the table with 2 points from 10 matches and are back in action on Wednesday away to Vipers Sports Club.
For Starters: Steven Bogere started his career at Millers FC in the 1980s before he played for Tobacco FC, Spear Motors, Nile FC and later joined the Jogoos, where he enjoyed unprecedented success.
At SC Villa, He was a key man as the Jogoos – record Ugandan Premier League champions with 16 titles – won consecutive doubles in 1988 and 1989. He also lifted the league trophy again in 1990.
