Alex Kitata On Target As Gaddafi End Vipers Impressive Run
Gaddafi Football Club fractured Vipers’ seven match unbeaten run following a 1-0 win in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter played at Kakindu Municipal stadium on Sunday evening.
Alex Kitata scored the only goal of of the encounter to hand Gaddafi their fourth win of the season as Vipers Sports Club suffered their second defeat this campaign.
The Soldier Boys only goal came just three minutes from kickoff when Kitata played one-two with Brian Kalumba before striking past Venoms’ custodian Alfred Mudekereza.
Vipers enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but failed to capitalize on their chances with Abang Cromwel’s header went wide in 20th minute before Karim Watambala’s shot was well save by Gaddafi’s custodian Joel Mutskubwa in the 25th minute.
The score was 1-0 in favor of Gaddafi Football Club in the first stanza.
After the break the visitors continued with their dominance but failed to find an equalizer with Hillary Mukundane, Najib Yiga all coming close to scoring for Vipers SC.
The hosts’ best chance in the second half came in the 65th minute through Amos Kirya’s stike but his effort was well saved by custodian Alfred Mudekereza as Gaddafi held on to earn maximum points.
Victory lifts Gaddafi to the 7th place of the log with 15 points from 10 games while Vipers SC remained in the 3rd position with 20 points from 10 matches.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday 7th December as Gaddafi vist Maroons FC at Luzira Maximum Prisons while Vipers host Onduparaka FC at St Mary’s stadium.
