Uganda’s Long Distance Runner Wins Cannes 10k Road Race In France
Uganda’s double Olympic champion Joshua Cheptegei has scooped the Cannes 10k road race on Sunday (6) with a new World-leading and French all-comers record in France.
Cheptegei took the victory at Cannes 10Km after clocking 26 minutes and 49 seconds.
He beats Kenyan Samuel Habtom who finished second after clocking 27:51 while his compatriot Abel Boniface Sikowo finished third with 27:58.
“Happy to see where I stand. It’s great to start my season with a World Lead. This gives me confidence for my track season.” Cheptegei said as quoted by Watchathletics.com.
This was Cheptegei’s first competitive race in seven months and his third title after winning the Olympic 5,000m gold and a 10,000m in Tokyo last summer.
