Kitara FC 0-1 Maroons: Amaku Fred Strikes To Hand The Royals First Loss
Goal machine Fred Amaku handed Maroons Football Club a 1-0 win over Kitara Football Club on Wednesday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Prison Warders bounced back from last week’s draw against URA FC to the Royals their first defeat of the season at Masindi stadium this evening.
It was Kitara’s first StarTimes Uganda Premier League defeat since joining the top tier league from Big League last season.
Both sides entered the break without goals until Fred Amaku broke the deadlock for the visitors with a brilliant strike in the 59th minute.
Kitara put up a great fight in search of an equaliser as Denis Omedi missed an opportunity to level matters when he failed to convert from a spot kick in the 67th minute.
The penalty was awarded after Jacob Okao fouled Jude Ssemugabi in the forbidden area but Omedi couldn’t find the back of the net as Kitara FC was condemned to the first defeat this campaign.
Wednesday’s defeat has created a three point margin between Kitara and BUL FC. The Eastern Giants now top the SUPL log with 18 points in 6 games while Kitara sit 2nd with 15 points after 6 games and Maroons moved to the 6th place with 11 points after equally 6 matches.
Kitara FC are back in action on Friday 10th November when they visit URA FC at Mehta stadium while Maroons FC host NEC FC at Luzira Maximum Prison Ground the next day.
