Turning point As Ojara’s Hat-trick Hands Onduparaka For First Win Of The Season

West Nile Giants Onduparaka Football Club secured their first win of the season as they rallied from a goal down to crush Uganda Peoples Defense Force Football Club (UPDFC FC) 5-1 in the StarTimes UPL encounter played at AbaBet Greenlight stadium.
Defender Denis Ojara scored a magical hat-trick while Abong Dominic and Emmanuel Oketch were all on target to hand Steven Bogere and Caterpillars faithful their first win this campaign.
Ezekiel Katende scored a consolation goal for UPDF FC as they were condemned to their eighth defeat.
The visitors started on a postive note and took an early lead in the 9th minute of kick-off when Katende found the back of the net from Mugisha Rogers’ delivery.
Five minutes later, The Caterpillars were unrelenting and responded through Abong Donimic who levelled matters for Steven Bogeres guns following a cross from Gadafi Gadinho.
Before Emmanuel Oketch put the hosts ahead after converting from a penalty in the 45+5 minutes to hand Onduparaka FC a 2-1 lead at the interval.
After the restart, Denis Ojara added the third in the 56th minute before adding the fourth and his second four minutes later.
In the 76th minute the Acholi Province star Denis Ojara completed his own hat-trick and the 5th as he sealed the victory for the Caterpillars who held on for their first win of the season.
Onduparaka’s first victory sees them remain at the foot of the log standings on 7 points after the final game of the first round while UPDF FC are three points above on 13th ahead of the break.
Both teams are back in action on 11th Feb 2023 as Onduparaka FC host URA FC at AbaBet Greenlight in their first game of the second round while UPDF FC will kickoff their second round campaign away to Express FC at Wankuluku Stadium.
