
Maroons FC Announce Second Signing
Newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League outfit Maroons Football Club have confirmed the arrival of Arafat Kakonge ahead of coming season.
Arafat joins the Mbili Mbili from StarTimes FUFA Big League entity Uganda Police Football Club.
The attacking midfieder inked a two-year renewable contract that will keep him at Luzira play grounds until 2024. The club have confirmed on Tuesday evening.
“Arafat Kakonge has signed a two-year renewable contract with Maroons FC,” reads club statement.
“I am happy to join Maroons, the coaches have much belief in young talented,” Arafat told maroonsfc.co.ug.
“Players and I feel I can easily fit in the squad. When assigned my roles as an attacker, i will be in position of scoring goals and create more assists for the team”.
“I am also excited to join the likes of Olinga, Okot, Walusimbi and other players who are equally talented, we shall add a great value to the team. Our target will be to fight for our existence in the top flight in the first season and we challenge for the big prize from the second on wards,” he concluded.
Speaking about this head coach Mohammed Senfuma said: “We are delighted that we have secured the transfer of Arafat. Everyone who knows football in Uganda well, knows the qualities, accuracy and creativity of Kakonge”.
“We have admired him for long, he is young and ambitious with a zeel to excel to the top ranks of football. He is only 21 years of age now, we look forward to seeing him join up with his new teammates ahead of the new UPL season. We all welcome Arafat to Maroons.”
The 21-year old has previously featured for Kyetume, Wakiso Giants, UPDF and most recently Police FC.
He turns into membership the second signing for Maroons FC after the arrival of Noel Nasasira.
Ceasar Sahni Olega, Felix Keita Okot and Emmanuel Akol are some of the players that have officially extended their contracts for further more years with the Club.
