
Mbarara City 1-2 Vipers: Mucureezi, Karisa On Target As Venoms Secure Stanbic Uganda Cup Semi-Final Advantage
Pual Mucureezi and Milton Karisa were all on target as Vipers Sports Club stunned relegated Mbarara City FC to take a 2-1 lead in the first of their Stanbic Uganda Cup Semi-Final at Kakyeka Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Seiri Arigumaho scored a consolation goal for the Ankole Lions as they were defeated in the first leg of the 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final.
Following a slow start Paul Muchurezi opened the lead for Vipers SC with a brilliant strike at the edge of the box for a 1-0 lead in the 40 minutes.
Moments later Milton Karisa doubled the lead for the Venoms after striking from a rebound as Robertinho Oliviera guns settled for a 2-0 lead in the first stanza.
After the break substitute Seiri Arigumaho pulled one back with just 8 minutes left to stoppage time but that was not enough as Vipers held on to beat Mbarara City in the first leg of the 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup Semi-Final.
Both teams will meet again at St Mary’s Kitende on Wednesday, 18 May when Vipers SC host Mbarara City in the return match.
