
Iganga Young 2-1 Calvary FC: Tambula Isma Verdy Bags Brace To Send Iganga Young To Last 32
Eastern Regional League side Iganga Young Football Club defeated Startimes FUFA Big League entity Calvary Football Club 2-1 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round 64 encounter played at Saaza Ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Hero Tambula Isma Verdy scored in either sides of the clash as Iganga Young FC outsmarted the Yumbe based entity to progress to the next round of the campaign.
Iganga Young started a better a side with Tambula opening the score for the hosts just 16 minutes from the kickoff to settle for a 1-0 lead in the break.
After the break Tambula Isma Verdy completed his own brace and the second for Iganga Young FC for a 2-1 lead in the 55 minutes.
Adriko Nazir Ongolo pulled one back for the Horizon Stars in the 67 minutes but that was not enough as Iganga Young FC held on for the remaining minutes to settle for a 2-1 win over Calvary FC.
The result means Iganga Young FC advanced to the last 32 of the 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup, Calvary Football Club of Yumbe meanwhile bowed out of the show-piece.
Elsewhere an encounter between Bujumbura United FC and Paidha Black Angels ended in a 1-1 draw in a clash played on Tuesday afternoon at Kibanjwa Ground in Hoima.
Paidha Black Angels went on to claim a 9-8 win on penalties to progress to the last 32 of the 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup while Bujumbura United FC bowed out of the campaign.
