Bright Stars Stun KCCA FC To Claim Last Uganda Cup Semi Final Slot
The semi-final line-up for 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup is complete after Soltilo Bright Stars saw off Kampala City Council Authority Football Club on Sunday.
Bright Stars FC eliminated KCCA FC in the quarter-finals played at Kavuma Recreation Center.
It was Substitute Nordin Bunjo who scored the only goal of the clash in the 61st minute to inspire the Stars to a 1-0 victory.
The former Proline star produced a powerful strke into the top corner past custodian Benjamin Ochan following a delivery from Ibrahim Kasinde.
Moments later KCCA had an opportunity to level matters when they were awarded a penalty kick after Rogers Mato was fouled in the forbidden area by Ibrahim Kasinde.
But Bright Stars’ custodian Sanon Mulabi made a smart move to keep KCCA FC at bay as he saved Tshisungu Kakonde’s penalty to settle for the much needed win.
Victory saw Bright Stars join Police FC, Vipers SC and Adjumani Town Council as the final team to advance to the semi finals of the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup. Meanwhile KCCA FC bowed out of this year’s show-piece.
Both sides are back in league action on Wednesday 19th April when Bright Stars visit Onduparaka FC at AbaBet Greenlight stadium while KCCA FC challenge URA FC at Mehta stadium in Lugazi.
