NEC FC bounced back to winning ways with a 3-1 home victory over Kaaro Karungi Fc at Bugolobi coffee ground on Thursday 6th April.
Coming to this game NEC FC had shared spoils with Adjumani Town Council Fc 1-1 on matchday 23.
Against the Ibanda based side, Micheal Skills Lukyamuzi went 1-0 up through David Tonny Kiberu.
Three minutes into the second stanza, Walugembe Julius doubled the host’s lead to 2-0 through a penalty kick.
The visitors pulled one back through Ian Amanya from the spot kick in the 63rd minute.
At the time Kaaro Karungi Fc were pressing for an equalizer, NEC FC head coach Lukyamuzi introduced veteran striker Geoffrey Sserukuma.
The former KCCA FC front man did the needful at the ninety minute mark by extending the Bugolobi side lead to 3-1 hence ending Kaaro Karungi Fc hope for a point.
This was Sserunkuma’s second goal at NEC FC since joining them in the 2023 January transfer window.
NEC FC recorded their 13th win of the season going to 44 points, 3rd on the table level with second placed Mbarara City Fc who were beaten by Kyetume Fc in Mukono.
The two are separated by three goals with six games to play.
Kaaro Karungi suffered their eleventh defeat of the campaign, remained at 29 points 10th on the table.
The two will return to action on Thursday 13th April on matchday 25.
NEC FC travel to Northern Gateway Fc while Kaaro Karungi Fc welcome Kataka Fc in Ibanda district.
