
Positive start for Alex Isabirye as Vipers SC cruise to last 8: Uganda Cup

Vipers SC are through to the quarter final of the Stanbic Uganda cup after eliminating Wakiso Giants Fc 4-3 in penalty shootouts after a one all draw in normal time.
Action was played at Kabaka kyabagu stadium in Wakiso on Tuesday 14th of March.
This was Alex Isabirye’s first match in charge of Vipers SC since taking over from the Spaniard Bento Bianchi Pellister this week.
In a highly anticipated Wakiso derby, the home side took the lead five minutes into the second stanza through Sharif Kimbowa with a volley off Marvin Nyanzi assist.
Vipers SC who had the best of the game on the finally found the back of the net with a leveler through right full back Ashraf Mandela from Martin Kiiza cut back which found him u marked in the box.
This was Vipers SC first goal in open play in eight matches.
After the final whistle going with the score line being at 1-1, next was penalty shootouts to get one team to the quarter final.
In penalties, Hillary Mukundane, Bright Anukani, Abubakar Lawal and Martin Kiiza scored their penalties for the Venoms.
The other side of Wakiso Giants Fc, Rahmat Senfuka, Moses Aliro and George Kaddu converted their penalties.
Second half substitute Norman Ojik saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora while Tom Masiko hit the cross bar.
This was the third in the row Vipers SC has progressex to the next round of Uganda cup this season through penalty shootouts. A 4-1 against Bujumbura United at round of 64 and 7-6 over Jinja North United in the round of 32.
Else where, Soltilo Brighters Fc thumped Buganda region League side Kiyinda Boys Fc 4-0 at Kavumba recreation ground. Ibrahim Kasinde bagged a brace while Nelson Ssenkatuka and Emmanuel Loki had one each.
Round of 16 action continues on Wednesday 15th of March with two matches at different play grounds. Express Fc welcome Paidha Black Angels Fc at Mutea || stadium in Wankulukuku and at Aba bet green light stadium in Arua, Onduparaka Fc entertain defending champions BUL FC.
