
Kitara Region League: A look at Edward and Albert groups playoffs battle.
The Kitara region League has got two groups, Edward and Albert where the the table leader from each group face-off in the playoffs for a place in FUFA Big League.
Dribbler Sportz takes you through the current standings from each group in the ongoing 2022/23 season.
Edward Group.
With ten matches to be played by each team, Rwenzori Lions Fc look well positioned for a place in the playoffs.
Rwenzori Lions Fc who lost to Booma fc 2-0 last year in playoffs, are currently on top of the log with 37 points after 13 games, 13 above second placed Fort Portal Boda Boda Fc.
Bumate United who at one time ayer in 2nd division sit 3rd on the table with 22 points,
They Rwenzori Lions Fc is the only unbeaten club in the region, won 12 and drawn one. They have scored 25 goals and Conceded only 5.
Generally at the look of things, at the end of the campaign Rwenzori Lions Fc will definitely qualify for the second consecutive playoffs.
It should be remembered at the end of the season three bottom teams will be relegated to district league.
Albert Group.
Unlike the Edward group, in the Albert group it is neck to neck where by six clubs have the chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Eleven matches remaining to be played, Bujumbura United from Hoima City are on top of the 13 league table.
They have collected 30 points from 13 games, only one above Bugoigo Leopards Fc who are 2nd on the log.
The Kibanjwa Lions (Bujumbura United) have won 9, drawn 3 lost only one. They have scored 36 goals and let in 22.
New league entrants Buhimba Saints United are 3rd with 25 points.
Bweyale United, Dove fc and Kagadi United come 4th, 5th and 6th respectively all tied at 22 points.
The race is expected to go till the very last fixtures to determine who qualifies for the playoffs.
Same as the Edward group, three bottom clubs will also relegated to district league at the end of season.
