After three games without a win, NEC FC bounced back to winning ways with a 5-1 thumping of Soroti City Fc at Bugolobi coffee ground on Thursday 23rd of March.
Captain Kavuma Marvin bagged a hat trick while veteran striker Geoffrey Sserukuma and Suleiman Sessazi scored one each for the home team.
Simon Peter Odeke pulled one for the struggling Soroti City Fc.
Kavuma drew first blood as early as the 8th minute from the spot kick after the NEC FC player was fouled in the box.
Nine minute to the break, Soroti City Fc responded with the leveler through Odeke, hence a one-all draw at the first stanza.
Defender Suleiman Sessazi spared time to up front and restored NEC FC lead three minutes into the second half.
Captain Kavuma completed his hat trick of the day in the space of two minutes, 78th and 80th hence stretching coach Lukyamuzi Michael side lead to 4-1.
Second half substitute Geoffrey Sserukuma put the last nail in Soroti City Fc coffin with the fifth ten minutes to the final whistle.
Sserunkuma was introduced in the 70th minute in the place of David Tonny Kiberu.
This was Sserunkuma’s first goal for NEC FC since he was signed in the 2023 January transfer window.
NEC FC have now won six of the Seven matches at home, scored 14 goals and Conceded only two in the process.
NEC FC jump from 4th to 3rd on the table with 40 points after 22 games.
This was Soroti City Fc’s thirteenth defeat of the season in 22 games. They remain at 23 points in the relegation zone (13th).
