Mbarara City Fc moved top of the FUFA Big League table after a 1-0 narrow win over Ndejje University Fc at Kakyeka stadium on Thursday 30t of March.
Striker Henry Kitegenyi scored the all important goal for the Ankole Lions on the day.
The left footed front man scored from the penalty in the 55th minute. The center referee awarded the penalty to the hosts after Kitegenyi was brought down in the box by the defender.
This was Kitegenyi’s 16th goal of the season, the second league top scorer, four behind Booma Omedi Denis who has notched 20.
Victory over the University side sent Mbarara City Fc to the summit with 44 points after 23 games, one behind Kitara Fc who host Police Fc on Friday 31st at Kigaya primary school play ground.
Ndejje University Fc who suffered 10th defeat of the season, remained at 27 points, 12th on the table one point off the relegation zone.
Next assignment will see Mbarara City Fc travel to Mukono to play Kyetume Fc at Nakisunga ssaza ground on 6th of April.
Ndejje University Fc will return home Visions of arena welcoming Kitara Fc on the same date .
