
Gadafi Wahab Penalty Inspires Arua Hill Past Bright Stars
Gadafi Wahab scored a late winner for Arua Hill Sports Club as they defeated Bright Stars 2-1 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League contest at Barifa Stadium on Saturday evening.
Wahab converted from a spot-kick in the 85th minute following a handball in the box to send the home crowds into hysteria.
The stylish midfielder’s goal came after Nelson Senkatuka cancelled out Innocent Media’s opener in the first half.
Fresh from school Media annonced his return for the Leopards when he found the back of the net in the 4th minute to hand the hosts an early lead.
Bright Stars responded in the 27th minute as Nelson Senkatuka converted from a spot-kick following a handball in the box as both sides settled for 1-1 draw in the first half.
After the break, Innocent Media, Regan Mpande and Toha Rashid all came close to restoring the lead for the hosts but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Emmanuel Loki also had an opportunity to put the visitors ahead but his effort was well saved by Arua Hill’s custodian Rogers Omedwa.
Before Wahab sealed the victory for the Leopars with just five minutes to the stoppage time when he converted from a penalty to hand Arua Hill SC maximum points.
The Kongolo Boys’ 7th victory puts them in the 6th place in the log standings on 22 points while Bright Stars are five points further back in eighth.
Both teams are back in action on Tuesday 20th December when Arua Hill SC visit Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu while Bright Stars host KCCA FC at Kavuma Recreational Center.
