“Go and Prepare for World Cup”,Magogo to Uganda Hippos.
FUFA President Moses Magogo has advised the Uganda Hippos Team to go and prepare for the World Cup.
Uganda Hippos Team who were from a successful expedition at the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers for the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations were they hit two birds with one stone with securing a berth to next year’s continental showpiece but as well emerging Champions of the region after defeating South Sudan 2-1 in the final on Friday.
The FUFA President,who was welcoming the triumphant team on Monday Afternoon at FUFA House in Mengo said;
“our vision as FUFA is to be the number one footballing Nation in Africa on and off the field and that can be achieved by qualifying for such tournaments. We played all the way to the final at the last tournament and therefore, our target should be attaining better,therefore as you go back to your respective clubs,play as you prepare for the World Cup”. said Moses Magogo.
In addition,the FUFA President also lauded the teams’ performance before promising Five Million Ugandan Shillings (5,000,000Ugx) to each team Member for the job well done.
“As FUFA, we promise full support to the team towards preparations for the final tournament. We want you to go and play to your best abilities and we have proved over the years that we can compete against everyone. Additionally, FUFA will extend five million shillings to every member who was part of the team in Sudan as a token of appreciation.”
The Five Million Ugandan Shillings Promise to each Team member will wait in balance after the Uganda Kobs recently bowed out of the AFCON U-23 Qualifiers due to financial constraints.
