
Denis Onyango: Former Cranes Captain Considering U-Turn On Retirement At International Level
Former Uganda Cranes skipper goalkeeper Denis Onyango has revealed he is considering coming out of retirement to rejoin Uganda Cranes.
The Mamelodi Sundowns custodian announced the surprised news of him coming out of retirement to play at the international level on Thursday via his official Twitter account.
“Uganda Cranes, guess who’s back?!!,” Onyango tweeted on his Twitter page.
The 39-year-old star hung up his gloves from the international football in April last year after penning down an emotional farewell letter to the federation.
In 2017, Oyango helped Ugand a Cranes qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as he conceded only two goals in six matches in their qualifying group before leading the Cranes at the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
He also won the African player of the year award in 2016 and also the CAF champions league with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns FC.
