Busoga United 0-1 Express FC: Spectator Aggression As Allan Kayiwa’s Late Free-Kick Sinks Busoga United
Epress Football Club handed Busoga United their sixth defeat of the season thanks to Allan Kawiya’s late free-kick in an enthralling StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter played at Kakindu Municipal stadium on Wednesday evening.
Allan Kawiya netted the match winner from a free-kick that brushed the inner woodwork of Busoga United post, before finding the back of the net with Micheal Lutaaya helpless just three minutes to the stoppage time.
There were some acts of hooliganism as the game was halted when a section of Busoga United fans started throwing objects in the stadium from the stands in the five minutes of the added of time.
Busoga United fans were protesting the referee’s officiation though the free-kick that led to the goal was rightly awarded following a TV replay that showed Kayiwa Ibrahim handled the ball outside the box.
After more than 30 minutes, the game resumed only for Express FC to hold on in the remining minutes to register their fourth win of the season.
Thr result elevates Express FC up to third in the league table on 14 points leveled with leaders BUL FC, Busoga United, meanwhile, stay 4th from the bottom of the log with 6 points from 8 games.
Busoga Unite are back in action on Friday 25th November as they visit BUL FC at FUFA Technical Center while Express FC host Bright Stars at Wankulukuku stadium on Tuesday 22nd November in their next encounter.
