Arua Hill Hand Maroons First Defeat Of The Season
Arua Hill Sports Club maintained a perfect start of the season as they cruised to a 3-1 victory over Maroons FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter played at Barifa Stadium on Saturday evening.
An own goal from Jakob Okao in the first half and second half goals from Innocent Maduka and Toha Rashid handed the Leopards their second win of the season.
Substitute Abraham Tusubira scored a late consolation goal for Maroons FC as they suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
The Kongolo Boys had a strong start and eventually got the opener through Jakob Okao who headed into the back of his own net following a cross from Rashid Kawawa for a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
Moments later Ronald Orombi missed an opportunity to level matters for the visitors after striking wide over the cross as Arua Hill SC settled for a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Substitute Innocent Maduka doubled the Leopards’ lead twelve minute from the break hitting the back of the net from a free kick rebound.
The visitors recieved another bad news when Arua Hill Sports Club were awarded a penalty after custodian Simon Tamale fouled Rashid Kawawa in the 77 minutes.
Skipper Toha Rashid then stepped up and converted the resultant penalty into the back of the net to hand Charles Livingston Mbabazi’s guns a 3-0 lead.
Tusubira pulled one back in the 83rd minute but that was not enough as Arua Hill held on to pick their second win of the season.
Victory saw Arua Hill leapfrog Maroons FC in the third place of the log with 6 points after 2 games while Maroons FC dropped in the 5th place of the log with 5 points from 4 games.
Both teams are back in action on Friday 28/10/22 as Arua Hill SC visit Blacks Power at Aki Bua stadium while Maroons host KCCA FC at Luzira Maximum Play grounds.
