Green Surfaced KIBULI Secondary School Playgrounds located in Makindye Division,Kampala will be the stage as spectators get entertained in the First Quarterfinal Encounter of the Pepsi sponsored 2022 University Football League.
Last Seasons’ Runners-Up and Rubaga based St.Lawrence University move inside and around to challenge hosts Kampala University on Thursday,15th, September,2022 at 1500Hours.
Kampala University who are looking for a third Championship will stand on home advantage but hosting Group D winners who have betterly recruited than last season will be a Knut to crack.
However,Self Nicknamed tactical technical,Kampala University Coach is from Day one optimistic to go past this tie as he adds,
“if you want to win the trophy you have to defeat the best and so our focus for now is on getting a solid win in this first leg and then we take it from there,” says aggressive Vincent Tumusiime.
The 2018 semi-final was the last meeting between both sides and Thursdays’ hosts knocked out St.Lawrence University with a 6-5 Penalty Shoot-out after a three all draw aggregate score.
St. Lawrence University playing a final last season could mount some pressure above being favourites but Coach Ssozi insists,
“This is a new squad and we are happy to have made it to this stage of the competition and we expect to go all the way. The team is not under any pressure, they have been improving day by day throughout the season and we expect to have a very good game,” Nnono said.
“We have played KU before and whenever we do it is a close game. To get this stage we have played strong teams which I believe has prepared us for KU so come rain come sunshine you can expect a good performance from the team”.
This stage is monumental for both sides as it lights path to glory for the University Football League marking ten years of existence.
