Maroons’ Shopping Spree Continues
Newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League outfit Maroons Football Club have annouced the capture of Sula Mpanga as the club continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Mpanga joins the One Force Army from Vipers Sports Club.
The defender has inked a two-year employment contract that will keep him at Luzira Maximum Security Prison ground until 2024.
“Maroons FC is delighted to announce the signing of utility player Sula Mpanga from Vipers SC on a two year renewable contract,”reads part of club statement
Mpanga talked about the decision to join Maroons FC. The defender says that it’s a big privilege to be part of the club.
“It’s a big privilege to be part of this amazing club that has existed for over 50 years, all I look at is gaining back the glory of the Maroons brand and put it where it deserves to be,” Mpanga tells Maroons FC official website. “this is different to the position I’m used to playing in, where you can be less cautious when attacking.”
“It’s been a hard position to learn but interesting to fit in, but the key is to keep your concentration for the entire 90 minutes. You’ve really have to be on the ball for all that time to enjoy the game.”
Head Coach Senfuma Mohammed added: “Even though he was not playing right-back at the time, I thought he could be phenomenal in that position and he proved me right.”
He turns into membership the 11th signing for Maroons FC after the arrivals of Isaac Mpagi, Lawrence Tezikya, David Ndihabwe, Brian Nkubi, Jacob Okao, Samson Kigozi, Arafat Kakonge, Noel Nassasira, Umar Kyebatala Frederick Kigozi and Simon Tamale.
In a bid to bolster their squad, The club have already extended the contracts of midfieder Felix Keita Okot, goalkepeer Emmanuel Akol and defender Ceasar Sahni Olega and central midfielder Ronald Orombi.
