Shaban Scores Late Equalizer As WestNile Select Fightback To Deny Acholi Select
WestNile Select rallied from a goal down to deny Acholi Select after playing to a 1-1 draw in the return leg of their friendly match on Saturday evening.
The match at Pece War Memorial Stadium saw Acholi Select claim the lead in the first half through Tito Okello but WestNile Select levelled matters in the second half through a fine goal from Muhammad Shaban.
Ceasor Okhuti’s guns created chances from early on but Acholi Select custodian Wokorach Jeans Diego proved strong to beat as he denied the likes of Muhammad Shaban, Alfred Leku, Bida Ezzra and Atubuni Kenedy with some brace and cool saves.
Ronald Owiny came close to opening the lead for Acholi Select but his strike from close range was well saved by WestNile Select goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.
Acholi Select claimed the lead in the 43 minutes through a powerful strike from Paykan Tahran forward Tito Okello as they took a 1-0 lead in the interval.
After the break Acholi Select looked to add their tally through the likes of Otto Isaac, Kilema Dickson and Tito Okello but Nafian Alionzi Ajaib was on hand to keep his side in the contest.
But with the clock winding down, Atendele Geriga’s low cross was turned in by Onduparaka FC forward Muhammad Shaban and WestNile Select had secured a share of spoils.
