
“It’s A Great Honour” – John Luyinda’s Reaction After Becoming Wakiso Gaints Boss
John Luyinda Ayala has spoken of his “great honour” after being annouced as Wakiso Gaints’ new head coach.
Wakiso Gaints Football Club have today confirmed John Luyinda “Ayala” as their next head coach ahead of the coming 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
The former Police FC manager has signed a two-year employment contract that will keep him at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium untill June 2024 with the option to extend for a further year.
Speaking during his unveiling ceremony at Papo restaurant in Kampala, Luyinda told the club’s official website: “It’s a great honour and privilege to be appointed coach of this highly ambitious club and am ready for the huge challenge.”
“In our conversation, I found that we share similar vision and the philosophy of the club especially from last season is one that I believe in as a coach and promise to work hard to develop a team that will be successful.”
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sula Kamoga who has led the search added: “The club has taken time to assess John Luyinda and we believe he has the necessary tools and skills that can help them prosper and excel. We continue to commit as we have always done to support him and the technical team in all ways.”
“We were impressed with his commitment and vision he has for the club and despite being a young coach, he has garnered enough experience to steer the club to another level in terms of performance.”
John Luyinda replaces Alex Gitta who was sacked towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
He will be deputized by Pius Ngabo while Richard Kansole is the Goalkeeping Coach.
Meanwhile Senkumba Hakim has been appointed the Team Trainer while Junior team coach is Kizito Alex.
