Andama, Bida On Target As WestNile Select Beat Acholi Select 2-0 At Ababet GreenLight Stadium

WestNile Select produced an emphatic display as they defeated Acholi Select 2-0 in the first round of the friendly match clash played on a wet Saturday evening at Ababet GreenLight Stadium.

Andama Junior’s breakthrough goal early in the second-half was later followed by a second from Kyetume FC star Bida Ezra to hand Ceasor Okhuti’s guns the march needed win over rivals Acholi Select in Arua City.

Both teams had had limited chances of their own in the first-half and eventually settled for a goalles draw at the interval.

Immediately after the restart Arua Hill SC midfielder Andama Junior broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 46th minute striking past Acholi Select custodian Wokorach Jeans for a 1-0 lead.

Acholi Select gave WestNile select a few scares through Onduparaka FC defender Dennis Ojara whose header off Tito Okello’s delivery hit the woodwork in the 57th minute.

Before Bida Ezra headed home Fahad Bayo’s delivery to double the lead for WestNile Select in the 61s minutes.

Paykan Tahran forward Tito Okello came close to reducing the deficit in the 85th minute but substitute goalkeeper Norman Angufindru stood tall in between his sticks after producing a brilliant first touch punch to deny the forward as WestNile held on to beat Acholi 2-0.

The result handed WestNile Select maximum points against Acholi Select in the first round of the double header friendly match.

Both teams are back in on Saturday 25th June 2022 as Acholi Select host WestNile Select in the return match of the highly-rated friendly match at Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu City.
