OFFICIAL: Mbarara City FC Relegated To FUFA Big League After 5-Years
Mbarara City Football Club have officially been relegated to the StarTimes FUFA Big League with two games left to spare in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after losing 2-1 to UPDF FC at Kakyeka Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Ankole Lions needed to avoid a loss or a draw to keep their slim survival hopes alive but first-half goals from Aggrey Kiirya and Rogers Mugisha handed the Army sides the much needed win to confirm Mbarara City’s relegation to the Big League after 5 years.
Seiri Agumaho bagged a consolation goal for Mbarara City FC as they were condemned to their 16 defeat of the campaign.
The defeat means Mbarara City can’t save their top-tier status and now joins Tooro United FC as the second club that will be participating in the StarTimes FUFA Big League next season.
Mbarara City currently sit in the 2nd place from the bottom of the log with 22 points from 28 games while UPDF FC are in the 7th place of the log with 36 points from 28 matches.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday, 14th May when the two relegated UPL sides Mbarara City and Tooro United lock horns at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara City while UPDF FC visit Express FC at Wankulukuku Stadium.
