Adjumani Town Council Beat Nebbi Central To Earn Promotion To 2022/23 FUFA Big League season

Nile Zone table toppers Adjumani Town Council Faith Health & Love (FHL) Football Club have become the second team to earn promotion to the 2022/23 StarTimes FUFA Big League season after a 1-0 victory over Nyagak Zone table toppers Nebbi Central FC in the WestNile Region promotional play-off played at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua City on Saturday afternoon.

Emmanuel Anyama scored the solitary goal for the Cocks who were eventually crowned champions of the just concluded 2021/22 WestNile Regional League tournament.

Nebbi Central dominated large spells of the encounter but failed to produce a goal out of their chances as they missed another opportunity to qualify to the second divison league.

Inside the opening 15 minutes Nebbi Central had Adjumani TC defending deep and could have gone ahead but Osman Miraji’s header went wide.

Moments later Fred Watongo came close to opening the lead for the Soldiers but his effort was well saved by Adjumani TC custodian Fauzu Tatiga.

Julius Okumu should have broken the lead for Nebbi Central but his header went few inches as both sides settled for a goalles draw in the first stanza.

After the break, Emmanuel Anyama broke the deadlock for Adjumani Town Council as he headed home Saviour Anzuvuku’s cross from the left flank for a 1-0 lead in the 66 minutes.

Nebbi increased the pressure however in the final quarter hour of the game, but none of the two sides could add a goal to the match as Adjumani TC held on to beat Nebbi Central.

The result means Adjumani TC were crowned champions of the 2021/22 WestNile Regional League and join Soroti City FC as the second team to earn automatic promotion to the 2022/23 StarTimes FUFA Big League season.

They will be joined by the winners from the six other regions which includes the North East Region, Northern Region, Kampala Region, Kitara Region, Buganda Region and Western Region.

WestNile Regional League Individual AWARDS:

In the individual awards Adjumani Town Council’s forward Nassir Sadick emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP). His teammate Tatiga Fauzu was awarded the best goalkeeper Meanwhile Alangi Super Mix FC striker Oromchan Sunday took home the golden boot after scoring 14 goals.
