Kitara Regional League Entity Booma FC Shock Maroons To Reach Stanbic Uganda Cup Semi-Finals;
Maroons’ Stanbic Uganda Cup campaign came to an end after they were defeated 2-1 by Kitara Regional League entity Booma Football Club in the Quarter-finals plated at Masindi Municipal Stadium on Saturday evening.
Second-half goals from Ashraf Ali and Denis Omedi handed Booma FC a place in the Semi-finals Of the tournament. while Fred Amaku scored a consolation goal for the FUFA Big League outfits Maroons FC who bowed out of the tournament.
The hosts could’ve had a fast start with just four minutes played as Denis Omedi’s brilliant header hit the woodwork.
Moments later Abraham Tusubira came close to opening the lead for the visitors through a free-kick but his effort went wide.
Omana Walter also missed an opportunity to break the deadlock for Booma FC after shooting wide as both sides settled for a goalles draw at the interval.
Three minutes from the break, Ali Ashraf put the hosts ahead after heading home Asiimwe Clinton’s cross for a 1-0 lead
But Fred Amaku levelled matters with just 8 minutes to the stoppage time before Denis Omedi scored against his former employers at the stroke of the stoppage time to hand Booma FC a 2-1 win.
Victory means Booma FC became the first club to book a place in the 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-finals while Maroons FC bowed out of the tournament
