
Ojik, Oketch On Target As Onduparaka Keep Survival Hopes Alive With A 2-1 Win Over Wakiso Gaints
West Nile Gaints Onduparaka Football Club took a huge step towards StarTimes Uganda Premier League survival after defeating Wakiso Gaints FC 2-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Friday evening.
Norman Ojik and Emmanuel Oketch scored in either sides of the encounter to hand the Caterpillars their six win of the season.
Sam Ssenyonjo bagged a consolation goal for the Purple Sharks who succumbed to their ninth defeat of the season.
The hosts started the better side and could have broken the lead through Joshua Lubwama but his effort from a free-kick hit the woodwork just 8 minutes from the clock.
It didn’t take long for the Caterpillars to exert themselves as Norman Ojik handed them the lead within ten minutes of kickoff.
The score was 1-0 in favor of Onduparaka FC at the interval.

After the break the Purple Sharks got an equalizer through Sam Ssenyonjo who headed home Joshua Lubwama’s corner-kick for a 1-1 in the 67 minutes.
Five minutes later Emmanuel Oketch restored the lead for the Caterpillars for a 2-1 lead.
With ten minutes left Wakiso Gaints made tripple changes as they gaffer brought in Kimbowa, Ssenfuka and Ssebufu for Matsiko, Bukenya and Ssenyonjo but the substitutes couldn’t find the equalizer as Onduparaka FC held on for a 2-1 win
Victory temporarily lifts Onduparaka FC to the 9th place of the log with 24 points after 22 games meanwhile Wakiso Gaints dropped to the 7th Place of the log with 33 points from 22 matches.
