
Mbarara City 1-1 BUL FC: Ankole Lions Earn A Point In Relegation Fight At Kakyeka Stadium
Ibrahim Nsimbe’s late equalizer snatched a draw for BUL FC as Mbarara City FC were made to pay for a sloppy Second-half performance in their StarTimes Uganda Premier League Matchday23 encounter played at Kakyeka Stadium on Monday evening.
Solomon Okwalinga had put the Ankole Lions ahead in 45+2 minutes after heading home Othieno Steven’s cross.
The first clear chance of the game came through Henry Kitegenyi’s header that was well saved by BUL FC custodian Emmanuel Kalyowa just 8 minutes from kickoff.
Soon after Jerome Kirya fired his own warning but it went wide after 11 minutes of play as BUL FC wasted their only opportunity of the first half.
Mbarara City continued with their possession and were twice denied by Emmanuel Kalyowa after punching away shots from Sadat Nsubuga and Kalule Frank in the 33 and 37 minutes respectively.
The Ankole Lions grabbed the opener at the stroke of half-time through Solomon Okwalinga who headed home Othieno Steven’s cross from the right flank for a 1-0 lead at the break.
After the break BUL FC returned the better side and could have leveled matters through Ibrahim Nsimbe but his tap slightly went wide in the 60th minute.
Richard Wandyaka should have equalized for BUL FC in the 62nd minute when a cross found him at the far post but his header missed by inches.
Ten minutes to the stoppage time, BUL FC found the equalizer through Ibrahim Nsimbe as both sides settled for a 1-1 draw at the final whistle.
The draw means Mbarara City remained in the 15th place of the log with 19 points from 23 matches while BUL FC are in the 4th place of the log with 38 points from 23 games.
