
Youngman On Target As Bright Stars Eliminate Stanbic Uganda Cup Record Champions KCCA FC
Stanbic Uganda Cup record champions KCCA FC were eliminated out of the tournament after a 1-0 defeat to Soltilo Bright Stars FC at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Friday evening.
Joseph Marvin Yungman scored the only goal of the clash as Bright Stars stunned KCCA FC to progress to the last 16 of the tournament.
Marvin Yungman gave the visitors an early lead with a net buster as early as 9 minutes off Kasinde’s delivery.
11 minutes later Youngman nearly found the second goal but his effort was well saved by KCCA FC custodian Benjamin Ochan.
Moments later Yasin Mugume missed a chance to double the lead for Bright Stars as he was denied by Ochan following a cross from Joseph Janjali.
Gift Ali came close to leveling matters for the hosts but his strike was punched out by Bright Stars’ custodian Were only for Usama Arafat to miss from the rebound as Bright Stars settled for a 1-0 lead in the first stanza.
After the break, KCCA FC dominated the possession and came close to leveling matters through Obenchan Filbert whose header was save by custodian Were.
Moments later the Kasassiro Boys also missed another chance with Julius Poloto’s header denied by Were before Hassan Jurua’s header rattled over the frame of the goal post as Bright Stars held for a 1-0 win
The Loss leaves record Stanbic Uganda Cup Champions KCCA FC out of the show-piece while Bright Stars booked a place in the last 16 of the tournament.
