Police Stun Gaddafi To Reach Stanbic Uganda Cup Round 16
Uganda Police Football Club advanced to around 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament after beating fellow UPL entity Gaddafi FC 1-0 at Omondi Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Juma Balinya scored the only goal of the game as the Cops stunned the Soldiers Boys in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round 32.
The visitors started a better side with Frank Mulimi’s shrike hitting the woodwork in the 7th minutes.
Six minutes later Police FC threatened when Juma Balinya’s well taken free-kick was brilliantly saved by Gaddafi FC custodian Mutebi Ronald.
There were few chances at the interval as both sides settled for a goalless.
After the break Umar Kyeyune nearly broke the deadlock for the Soldier as he missed a one-on-one chance with Tom Ikara.
The hosts hit the front in the 65 minutes when Juma Balinya punched a loose ball from six yards for a 1-0 win.
Victory means Police FC progressed to the last 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. While Gaddafi FC bowed out of the tournament.
