
Mbarara City, KCCA FC Share The Spoils In Entertaining Clash
Mbarara City Football Club and Kampala City Council Authority Football Club (KCCA FC ) played to an entertaining 1-1 stalemate in their StarTimes Uganda Premier League clash at Kakyeka Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
An early goal from Usama Arafat and a goal from Jude Ssemugabi saw the Ankole Lions and Kasassiro Boys played to a draw.
Morley Bwyekwaso’s charges broke the lead in the first half through Usmat Arafat who headed into the back of the net following a delivery from Patrick Kaddu for a 1-0 lead just 3 minutes from clock.
Mato Rogers should have doubled the lead but his effort went inches wide as KCCA FC took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Five minutes from break, Mbarara City were back on level terms, as Jude Ssemugabi tapped home Henry Kitenge’s delivery from the left wing.
Substitute Gif Ali could have doubled the lead for the visitors but his snapshot from 30 yards went wide in the 65th minute.
As the game was drawing closer to the end, both sides continued to create half chances to score, but neither of the teams was able to find the back of the net.
The result sees KCCA FC remaining on position two with 35 points after 17 games. Mbarara City meanwhile sit on the 4th place from the bottom of the log after collecting 16 points from 17 games.
Both clubs will be looking to register maximum points in their next matches, with KCCA FC going up against Onduparaka FC on Saturday 19th Feb 2022 at Phillip Omondi Stadium and Mbarara City visit Gadafi the next day at Gadafi Baracks.
