SUC: Bright Stars Beat Free Stars On Penalties To Advance To Round 32
Soltilo Bright Stars Football Club defeated Free Stars Football Club 7-6 on penalties (1-1 after normal time) in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round 64 encounter played at Mukono Bishops SS play ground on Monday afternoon.
Alex Kitosa’s first half goal gave the host a deserved lead against UPL side Soltilo Bright Stars, But Joseph Janjali equalized with just 10 minutes to the stoppage time to send the match into penalties.
Bright Stars were the better team in the early exchanges and had a chance to go ahead but Nelson Senkatuka’s effort went inches over the cross.
The visitors had two more chances before the halftime break, but on both occasions Free Star’s defence stood up to the task
Alex Kitosa opened the lead for Free Stars Football Club in the 27th minute for a 1-0 lead.
The score was 1-0 in the first half as Free Stars took a lead in the break.
After the restart, Joseph Janjali levelled matters for Bright Stars with a brilliant header off a delivery from Bugembe just 10 minutes to the stoppage time.
With both teams tied at the final whistle, the match had to be decided on penalties, with Bright Stars defeating Free Stars 7-6 to progress to the 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup Round 32.
